About the Author

My name is Clinton Munkres. I'm the founder and principal engineer of BoringHAUS and the publisher of The Data Governor.

I've spent more than thirty years in enterprise technology, most of it at Wells Fargo, where I moved from online-banking integration engineering through technology management to enterprise data enablement and business intelligence engineering — the infrastructure and reporting side of the same data that governance programs later try to control.

Since 2021 I've worked hands-on in data governance and master data management as a contractor:

Data cataloging and metadata — implemented the Enterprise Data Catalog and built the systems-metadata metamodel in Collibra Data Intelligence Cloud at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Master data management — engineered Profisee MDM domains, business rules, and data quality monitoring at Nestlé Purina, including hypercare for new domain onboarding.
Regulatory data governance — critical data element discovery and decomposition, Tableau Prep lineage unpacking, and FR Y-14Q stress-testing automation for Basel / BCBS 239 compliance at a global bank through PwC.

That range — financial services, federal government, and consumer-goods manufacturing — is the reason this site exists. Governance looks different when the driver is a regulator, a modernization mandate, or a product master that has to survive an ERP consolidation, and most of what's written about it ignores that.

I started this blog because practitioners deserve more than theory. Most data governance literature is written at 30,000 feet. The Data Governor is written from the trenches — practical frameworks, real examples, and the organizational dynamics that decide whether a program runs or gets routed around.
